Shane Warne says that he helped make hair transplants cool

‘I helped make it cool!’ Shane Warne believes he broke down the stigma of hair transplants by being open about his surgically enhanced mane – and admits he was once ‘so self conscious’ about having a bald spot

Shane Warne has always been open about getting hair transplants.

And the cricketer feels he is part of the reason there is less stigma around the treatment these days.

The 50-year-old told Confidential on Tuesday: ‘I think I have helped so it is cool to do it rather than that stigma of being known as the guy who has had his hair done’.

‘I would go out and keep putting my hand there or touching it or I would wear a hat because I didn’t like it,’ he said.

Shane has admitted that he’s had some ‘really bad hairstyles’ over the years.

The retired Test cricketer spoke about his infamous looks during an interview with WSFM’s Jonesy & Amanda.

Shane spoke about his various fashion fails over a decade after first seeking treatment for hair loss.

‘I’ve had some really bad hairstyles over the years – really bad stuff. I do like nice hair and being able to do things with it. The one thing people says is ‘Does it really work?’ and it actually does.’

Speaking of decision to seek professional help, Shane said the pressure of TV cameras during his cricket career made him self-conscious.

‘I re-grew my own hair for a while then I started to go bald on my crown and I didn’t like that,’ he said.

‘When you’re watching the cricket, the camera is always on your crown when you’re bowling the ball. It magnified what was going on with my head.’
