‘Even though I talk a lot about loving the earth, I was a hypocrite when it comes to fashion and clothes,’ Nathalie admitted on Instagram this week.

Nathalie said she aimed to examine and challenge her own wasteful consumption habits by embarking on a campaign of ‘no new clothes’ for one year, and documenting her journey monthly.

In her first blog post, she explained that the recent Australian bushfires encouraged her to take accountability for her role in the world’s climate crisis.

‘I could no longer promote a new OOTD (outfit of the day) and feed this ridiculous fashion culture that tells us what we bought last year is not wearable this year because it’s not ‘”cool” anymore,’ Nathalie continued.

The Vampire Diaries actress, who is based in Los Angeles, admitted that she had clothes to last the rest of her life and was looking for a way to also overhaul her closet to remove unnecessary items.

She explained exactly what the new “no new clothes” campaign would look like for her.

‘This means saying no to gifts of free clothes, not being styled in any new clothes for appearances, I will be either re-wearing something I own or renting/borrowing it second hand,’ she added.
