Kyly Clarke reveals her ‘nerves’ before her TV debut as a judge on House Rules… after her high-profile split from retired cricketer Michael Clarke

Kyly Clarke has revealed she was ‘nervous’ before her major television debut as an interior design judge on Channel Seven’s House Rules: High Stakes.

The former model, 38, took on the role shortly after her split from retired Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke, to whom she was married for seven years.

‘I was always taught if you’re not a little nervous then you’re not serious enough about what you’re doing,’ Kyly told TV Week on Monday.

Kyly added that she had high expectations of herself after taking over the role made famous by Wendy Moore, the editor-in-chief of Home Beautiful magazine.

‘I do have expectations on myself to be good at my job, and to give my best for the viewers, so nerves definitely kicked in at first because of that,’ she said.

Kyly has been praised as a breath of fresh air on the show, but some viewers have taken issue with her ‘lack of professional experience’.

The mother-of-one was announced as one of the judges on House Rules in October.

Kyly and Michael, who were once considered a glamour couple of the cricket world, had quietly parted ways a month earlier, but did not announce their break-up until February this year.

The former couple are in the midst of a divorce estimated to be worth $40million, but remain on friendly terms for the sake of their four-year-old daughter, Kelsey Lee.

After confirming their separation, reports surface that Michael was dating P.E Nation founder Pip Edwards, with whom he had been friends for more than a decade.

While they never publicly acknowledged they were a couple, the pair are understood to have dated for several months after the Clarkes’ split.

But things are said to have ended swiftly in early April when Michael decided he couldn’t handle the publicity that came with being linked to the activewear designer.
