‘I was mortified’: First Dates Australia star accuses Seven of making her look ‘dumb and illiterate’… as the primary school teacher hints at legal action

A contestant on the latest season of First Dates Australia has come out swinging against Channel Seven, after she was left ‘mortified’ by her on-screen portrayal.

Year five teacher Sarah Pettersen, whose date with P.E. teacher Adam Parker aired earlier this year, has accused the network of making her look ‘dumb’ and ”illiterate’ for the sake of entertainment.

‘I was mortified by it all,’ the part-time makeup artist told Sunday Confidential this weekend.

Sarah, who considers herself to be a ‘smart woman’ said: ‘I don’t mind people making fun of my personality, but they made me look so dumb and I am a teacher.’

‘They chopped my sentences, so I didn’t even make sense. I was portrayed to be a slow blonde,’ Sarah continued, adding that she felt ‘duped’ by the whole experience.

Sarah said things became worse when Seven shared a clip of her date to social media, prompting a slew of negative comments.

Seven has since deleted the post, the Sunday Confidential reports.

The glamorous educator also hinted that legal action may be on the cards.

Sarah said she was ‘aware’ of the 2019 Supreme Court ruling that holds networks accountable for the comments on their social media pages.

'Duped: 'They chopped my sentences, so I didn't even make sense. I was portrayed to be a slow blonde,' Sarah continued, adding that she felt 'duped' by the whole experience.

During her ill-fated date, Sarah was seen poring over the menu indecisively before telling her suitor Adam that she prefers ‘plane food’.

Assuming that Sarah had said ‘plain food’, Adam suggested that she order the vegetarian tempura.

‘Plane! Like airplane food!’ Sarah replied, flapping her hands to the side like wings.

‘Seriously, “plane food” is not something you tell someone on a date – or anywhere in that matter,’ Adam laughed to producers.

Later in the episode, Sarah admitted she had ‘no idea’ what sashimi or spatchcock was, is ‘terrible at geography’ and recently thought that Spain was in South America.

Finally, Sarah left Adam confused by demonstrating her ‘party tricks’, including dislodging her shoulder-blade and clapping with one hand.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Channel Seven for comment.
