Birds of a Feather’s Linda Robson and Lesley Joseph are in talks for a lockdown special

Linda Robson and Lesley Joseph are in talks for a comeback of Birds of a Feather as a lockdown special.

The sitcom originally aired on BBC1 from 1989 to 1998 and was then revived on ITV from 2014 to 2017 with an announcement in February 2019 that there was no plans for new episodes.

But speaking on the Distinct Nostalgia podcast, Linda revealed there have been discussions about a new special amid the coronavirus crisis.

She said: ‘There was talk of one of me and Lesley on lockdown. The series is being repeated on ITV Friday nights at 8pm and at 8.30pm.

‘So it’s really nice for people who have not seen it before or people that are used to it can have another look and it will cheer them all up a bit.’

Lesley added: ‘It could happen so let’s see. We’d like to do that one.’

It is not known whether fellow show star Pauline Quirke would return for the potential special episode.

Linda said: ‘Out of 126 episodes or something one of my favourites was when it was just the three of us and we ended up driving to a Sunday market and it was a garage.

‘You could almost do it on Zoom. It would be absolutely brilliant.’

The actress also recalled how at one point, the show was almost taken off the air after viewers took offense to some of the language used.

She recalled: ‘Pauline used a word beginning with B and ending in D and there were about 200 complaints.’

It comes after Linda recently left the Loose Women panel in utter hysterics during Friday’s show when she accidentally swore.

The actress screamed in horror after making the crude slip, though luckily it was bleeped out due to the episode being pre-recorded.

Linda joined her fellow panellists Christine Lampard and Stacey Solomon, along with Coleen Nolan who appeared from her home.

The stars were all chatting about the issue of blabbermouth friends, with Linda confessing: ‘I saw a friend of mine’s partner one day up Hampstead sitting and having lunch with another lady.’

She said: 'There was talk of one of me and Lesley on lockdown. The series is being repeated on ITV Friday nights at 8pm and at 8.30pm' (pictured in January 2014)

‘I didn’t tell her because I thought maybe it’s innocent, maybe they’ve just bumped into each other and they’re having a cup of coffee.

‘He saw me looking so I don’t know if he went home and said ”I saw Linda today I was having a cup of coffee with so and so.”‘

Linda then accidentally said: ‘I thought she hasn’t said ”oh ****,”’ before covering her mouth and saying: ‘Oh sugar take that out!’

Stacey immediately burst out laughing shouting: ‘She’s done it again live on air!’ while the rest of the panel also erupted into fits of giggles.

Linda attempted to try and continue the story, but eventually just placed her head in her hands in embarrassment, adding: ‘I’m gonna kill myself!’

Luckily the slip-up was bleeped, and Linda’s mouth was blurred to conceal the obscene word, indicating the show was pre-recorded.
