The Voice host Darren McMullen reveals his secret feud with former coach Seal – and says they once had a massive blow-up on set

Darren McMullen is set to return to The Voice Australia this year as a co-host alongside Renee Bargh.

And the 38-year-old revealed this week that he once had a secret feud with former coach Seal, 57, during his earlier stint on the show.

Speaking to News.com.au, Darren recalled how he’d ‘p**sed off’ the British singer by telling him to ‘shut up’.

The two men had a blow-up on live TV after Darren stopped Seal from reading out a letter he’d received from a former contestant.

The Glasgow-born host recounted: ‘[Seal] said, ”Darren, I just wonder if I could read out this lovely letter I received this year from blah blah blah.”‘

Darren told the Kiss from a Rose singer to just post the letter on Instagram rather then read it aloud, which didn’t go down well.

‘He was p**sed at me,’ Darren said. ‘I don’t think anyone had ever told Seal to shut up before. It was quite funny.’

He added that Seal ‘loved to preach’ on set and the others just didn’t have time for it.

Seal appeared as a coach on The Voice in 2012, 2013 and 2017. Darren hosted the show from 2012 to 2015.

The Scottish presenter added that the coaches this year have had a few ‘spats,’ but there’s ‘no bad blood off camera’.

Kelly Rowland, Boy George, Delta Goodrem and Guy Sebastian have returned this year as coaches.

In May last year, Guy confirmed his bizarre feud with Boy George.

Guy said he was feuding with the 58-year-old Culture Club singer over who got to wear a fedora on camera.

The Australia Idol winner told The Kyle and Jackie O Show that it had been made clear to him that Boy George would be the only ‘hat guy’ on the show.

The ’80s superstar apparently asked his assistant to deliver the bad news.
