The Real Housewives of Sydney: Athena X Levendi exposes truth about show

The shocking TRUTH about The Real Housewives of Sydney: Former star Athena X Levendi exposes the show after it was axed for ‘being too nasty’

The Real Housewives of Sydney was axed for ‘being too nasty’ after just one series.

And three years after the program aired on Foxtel, former star Athena X Levendi has exposed what it was really like filming the controversial reality show.

In an Instagram rant on Wednesday, the 43-year-old slammed her co-stars and claimed they were all ‘actors’ playing specific characters in staged scenes.

The truth is out: The Real Housewives of Sydney’s Athena X (pictured) exposed the ‘fake’ reality show in an Instagram rant on Wednesday, after it was cancelled for ‘being too nasty’

Athena unleashed on the show after being accused of taking a swipe at her former co-stars in a previous cryptic post about fake friendships.

‘I wasn’t referring to RHOS. Just to clarify, the ladies that were cast were never in my friend zone. Just a group of random women forced to act like friends,’ she wrote.

‘For those who might be confused and ignorant, RHOS was a produced television show. I was cast to be portrayed a certain way (I refused to be manipulated or bullied). Just to make it very clear, I was never friends with any of them.’

Athena went on to say that appearing on the show was ‘just a job’ for the cast.

She claimed that none of her co-stars wanted to be friends with her away from the cameras, with the exception of Matty Samaei, Melissa Tkautz and Lisa Oldfield, who were ‘somewhat fair and at least kind’ to her during filming.

Continuing her rant, Athena said: ‘RHOS was not real life and I don’t see any of those ‘actors’ in my real life. I say actors, as that’s my perception from that experience!’

She went on to reveal that the exposure she received from appearing on the show was detrimental as a whole, and created ‘jealousy’ among her real life friends.

The reality star concluded by saying her real friends ‘couldn’t handle my newfound temporary fame’ and believed the ‘fake narrative’ of storylines on the show.

The Real Housewives of Sydney debuted on Foxtel’s Arena in February 2017.

It featured Athena, Matty, Melissa, Lisa, Krissy Marsh, Victoria Rees and Nicole O’Neil, and followed their personal, professional and social lives.

Many people branded it ‘the nastiest’ Housewives series from the global franchise, with Foxtel’s executive director of television, Brian Walsh, seemingly agreeing.

He previously said the show went ‘too far’ and ‘a lot of the women were nasty for nasty’s sake and have no redeeming features’ before axing it for good in 2019.
