Liam Gallagher shaves off his bushy beard after he was spotted looking unrecognisable with thick facial hair

Liam Gallagher has shaved off his bushy beard after he was spotted stepping out with thick facial in north London earlier this month.

The singer, 47, showed off his freshly-shaved stubble on his Instagram page on Wednesday after shaving off his unruly facial hair.

Liam had affectionately nicknamed his beard John, after the late Beatles singer John Lennon who famously sported a similar look.

The Oasis frontman announced the ‘bad news’ on Twitter, Liam wrote: ‘Morning brothers n sisters I have some good news n bad news. JOHN IS GONE (sic)’

Liam later showed off his fresh face with a picture posted to Twitter alongside the caption: ‘There he is LG x (sic)’

The style change comes after the rocker – who is engaged to his manager Debbie Gwyther – recently said he’d been toying with the idea of shaving off his excessive beard, which he grew during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown.

Asked what the first things he’ll be doing once the lockdown is lifted, he said: ‘Put some f*****g clothes on, for starters.

‘Maybe shave the beard off, but maybe not. I’ve got a big long beard. I’ve had it for three months so you can imagine what it looks like. I’ve had since Christmas and I’ve not even had a trim.

‘Part of me was thinking that I look pretty f***ing cool and then there’s the days when I think I look like a right ****, but then, so does everyone else.

‘I know I’m going to miss it.’

‘So yeah, shave it off, put some clothes on and go to the pub and rink some Guinness. Then get back to work and do some gigs.’

But Liam also noted he’s proud of his long hair and joked that his new look is ‘Scarface’ from the 1983 crime movie starring Al Pacino as the titular drug lord Tony Montana.

Gushing: Sharing his delight, Liam said: 'It's an honour to announce that I will be doing a gig for the NHS and careworkers... They do an incredible job, we are very lucky to have them. LG x'

Meanwhile, Liam announced a free concert at London’s 02 Arena for NHS staff working on the frontlines of the coronavirus crisis.

The former Oasis frontman took to his Instagram to reveal the news earlier this month as he gushed that it was ‘an honour’ to put on the show as ‘we are very lucky’ to have them during this global pandemic.

Taking place on October 29, all staff who work in NHS hospitals in the UK will be eligible for two free tickets to the show for themselves and a guest.

All staff who are attending must provide either valid NHS staff ID or a Primary Care Trust ID card, with the name on their card matching the one on the ticket.

It has yet to be confirmed if any other musicians will join Liam on stage at the show, and tickets will go on ‘sale’ from 9am on Wednesday 15 April 2020.

He pleaded with Noel to join him at the charity concert in aid of the National Health Service but later made clear that it would be going ahead with or without his brother.
