Alex Jones cuts finger and can’t be assisted on The One Show

Alex Jones cuts her finger live on The One Show as co-hosts Alex Scott and Matt Allwright are left unable to help due to social distancing rules

The programme recently came under fire as viewers slammed the presenters for failing to practise social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic.

And while The One Show now enforces the rule, Alex Jones was left without assistance as she cut her finger while sitting two metres apart from co-hosts Alex Scott and Matt Allwright on Wednesday’s episode.

The news anchor, 43, reassured viewers that ‘everything is fine’ as she eventually managed to find a tissue behind her sofa after suffering an incident live on-air.

Oh dear: Alex Jones was left without assistance as she cut her finger while sitting two metres apart from co-hosts Alex Scott and Matt Allwright on Wednesday’s episode of The One Show

Leaving her guests stunned, Welsh beauty Alex laughed: ‘I’m so sorry. I’ve just given myself a paper cut, and I’ve got blood everywhere.’

‘I’m actually fine. It’s just a paper cut, but I’ve not got a tissue’, she added, which she would use to stop blood leakage.

This is where social distancing caused some problems because Watchdog correspondent Matt Allwright explained that him and Alex Scott would have to break the guidelines to hand Alex Jones a tissue.

‘Don’t worry, it’s fine’, the media personality said after discovering a tissue.

In late March, Alex and Patrick Kielty changed their seating arrangements on the show, after viewers complained about their close proximity.

The pair began the show sitting close to each other as normal, until fans highlighted the duo should be following the government guidelines.
