Courteney Cox surprises a 13-year-old super fan who had a virtual Friends themed Bar Mitzvah

NBC’s hit show Friends may have ended 16-years ago but it remains popular, even among those who weren’t alive during it’s 10-year run. 

And one young super-fan got the surprise of a life-time thanks to James Cordon and Courteney Cox. 

The 55-year-old actress, well-known for her role as Monica Gellar, shocked 13-year-old fan Neftali on the Late Late Show, Monday night.

‘Oh, my gosh, hello!’ the teen said as Courteney popped on screen, during his chat with the show’s host.

Of his dedication to the show he said ‘I’ve watched it seven times,’ an answer that shocked the Cougar Town actress. 

‘Seven time?! The whole series seven times?’ she asked shocked to which he said yes. ‘That’s incredible.’ 

She also gifted him with a foosball table because she was so ‘touched’ by his story.

Courteney also offered him her famous Monica line of ‘I know!’ before they parted ways. 

‘I’m very good, I’m very excited,’ he told James before being surprised by the famous actress. 

The newly minted teenager from Borehamwood, England opted to have a virtual Bar Mitzvah as the original plans were scrapped due to the coronavirus pandemic, but even the online event had a strong tie to the show.

‘I’ve come to a realization,’ he said reading a speech during his Bar Mitzvah. ‘The lyrics of the Friends theme tune starts with the words “So no one told you life was gonna be this way,” but the chorus of that song has the more uplifting line “I’ll be there for you and you’re there for me too.” 

His originally party plans expected to feature tables names after all of the characters, a red couch for photo opportunities and would have a foosball table as characters Joey and Chandler did.

When asked by James why he enjoys a show that ended years before he was born he said ‘You can relate to all the characters and it’s really funny.’  

The creative celebrated was dubbed the ‘first ever’ virtual Bar Mitzvah by his Rabbi, Alex Chapper, who virtually joined Neftali and his family for the ceremony. 

Though just expected to be an event for friends and family, his virtual celebration went on to be viewed by thousands online.
