Blue singer Lee Ryan hit back at trolls who criticised him for gaining weight while in lockdown during an emotive Instagram video on Sunday. 

The 36-year-old had been enjoying a rooftop singing session with his mother and girlfriend Verity at his home, showing his vocal abilities to Spandau Ballet’s Gold.

But the singer was forced to go inside and take a moment after trolls started sending him abusive messages about his appearance.

Talking to the camera, the handsome chap said: ‘So listen right, a few people are on at me for having fun and saying, “Oh s***, you look like you’ve put on a bit of timber”.

‘Who ain’t in this lockdown? No one is going out and doing their usual routine. Be kind to people, we will all lose it eventually. 

‘Be happy, be with your family and be kind and loving to people. Especially during this time..

Going back to the singing, Lee and Verity, who also has an impressive voice, sang a duet of Let’s Stay Together by Al Green. 

Later on, Lee got a dressing down by his mother when she told him he takes over as lead singer and with the cooking as well.

In a playful exchange, Lee said: ‘Right my mum says I take over… even the lead…’

She said: ‘He takes over, on the roast potatoes and the carrots.’

Lee and Verity are believed to have started dating at the start of the year when they shared a series of loved-up pictures of themselved on a sun-kissed holiday.  

He packed on the PDA as he wrapped his arm around the brunette beauty, who previously starred on the X Factor in 2009.
