Jackie ‘O’ Henderson slams influencers for promoting ‘unnecessary’ products

‘I’m really getting over it!’ Jackie ‘O’ Henderson slams Instagram models for promoting ‘unnecessary’ products on Instagram

Radio personality Jackie ‘O’ Henderson has slammed influencers for promoting ‘unnecessary’ products on Instagram.

Speaking on her KIIS FM radio show on Monday, the radio host, 45, said she’s ‘really getting over’ people spruiking products on social media and claimed it doesn’t even make others want to purchase the item.

‘I’m really getting over Instagram and people flogging products and doing ads. I just don’t like it too much,’ she told her co-host Kyle Sandilands.

‘If you do it every now and then and you feel it suits you and it fits with your brand, I think fine do it, but if you’re just flogging face creams etc, I just get over looking at your posts because I don’t think you’re very authentic,’ she continued.

Jackie went on to say that influencers don’t get paid much unless you’re a celebrity with 50 million followers such as Kim Kardashian or Charlie Demilio.

Kyle also added that he wouldn’t buy a product online just because he saw someone promoting it.

‘I’m not going to buy a diet Fanta because someone is pushing it. I don’t think it even works nor do I think the things I see advertised have big advertising budgets.’

He also said that not all the products an influencer shares is always relevant to their followers.

‘If you follow a bikini girl on Instagram but there selling acne cream [it’s not going to work] because most of them may be blokes. It’s not really going to translate and it’s a big hole. A lot of people think it’s going to work one way and it doesn’t,’ he said.
