The 35-year-old revealed on the Daily Telegraph’s JMO podcast this week that she has been on a ‘health and wellness journey’ the last few years so she didn’t have to rely on prescription medications.

‘I went on a journey to adopt some good tools so I didn’t have to lean so far into pharma,’ she said.

Katy explained some of the ‘tools’ she uses to manage her mental health include ‘mediation’ and ‘childhood trauma therapy’.

The Roar singer added that she was ‘fully supported’ by her fiance Orlando Bloom.

‘There were some pretty dark days and I think that was pretty evident on my last record and what I was going through publicly,’ she added.

Katy released her fourth solo album, Witness, in June 2017, which went on to be a surprise flop.

Reflecting on that particularly tough period between 2017 and 2018, Katy admitted that she struggled to get out of bed.

She told Vogue India In January: ‘In the past, I had been able to overcome it, but this time something happened that made me fall down too many flights of stairs. I had to really go on a mental health journey’.

Katy went on to discuss the ‘spiritual journey’ she has gone on with her fiancé, Orlando, explaining that they bring out the best in each other by pulling out the ‘poison’.

‘Orlando is like a sage,’ she claimed. ‘When we first met, he said we would pull the poison out of each other, and we really do. It’s exhausting, but we really hold each other accountable.

Meanwhile, Katy and Orlando are expecting their first child together, a daughter, later this year.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean actor also shares son Flynn, nine, with former wife, Miranda Kerr.
