Andie MacDowell looks carefree on a dog walk after reflecting on years of insecurity over her appearance: ‘I wasted precious time’

Andie MacDowell cut a stylish figure when she was seen walking her dogs in Los Angeles on Friday.

The 62-year-old Groundhog Day star proved she is a master at mixing patterns with a floral button-down, striped pants and a colorful scarf around her face.

As she walked with her two pups and a pal, the mother-of-three donned a straw and stayed comfortable in a pair of brown hiking boots.

Earlier in the afternoon, the successful model shared a throwback shot of herself in a gown from 1986 after giving birth to her firstborn child Justin, from her past marriage to Paul Qualley.

‘Be kind to yourself,’ she told her followers, while revealing she ‘wasted precious time thinking negatively’ about her appearance and weight.

‘I had just had Rainey it was the end of the day after a L’Oreal shoot Matthew [Rothstein] shot some of their commercials and they were beautiful,’ the former cover girl recalled on Instagram.

Despite producing incredible pictures on the shoot, MacDowell remembered being plagued by insecurity and detailed the overwhelming pressure on women working in entertainment.

‘I remember thinking I was fat and being very insecure about my body,’ she captioned the shot. ‘I’m sad that I wasted precious time thinking negatively about myself.

She added: ‘There is a lot of pressure to be perfect (whatever that is?) The truth is we come in all shapes and sizes and we all need to find our own healthy place.’

Now, she looks at the photo with kinder eyes, calling her physique ‘gorgeous’ and ‘healthy’ at the time.

The Golden Globe Award nominee encouraged others to also see their bodies as pleaces to ‘eat and workout and live and laugh and love without the need to achieve the unattainable idea of perfection.’

She also shares two daughters Margaret, 25, and Rainey, 30, from her marriage to Qualley.
