The Bachelor’s Colton Underwood donates his plasma to Children’s Hospital Colorado after recovery from coronavirus

The Bachelor’s Colton Underwood is giving back.

The 28-year-old reality star, who was the leading man on The Bachelor’s 23rd season, has donated his blood following his recovery from COVID-19, taking to Instagram on Thursday with a pair of images documenting his trip to Children’s Hospital Colorado.

‘I was finally able to donate my convalescent plasma/blood in hopes that it is used for patients recovering from Covid-19 and research purposes,’ he said. ‘It was meaningful to be able to make the donation to a hospital that has played a role in my life these last few years and is familiar to me.’

In an accompanying set of shots, Underwood posed with a medical professional donning a facemark with a white Nike cap and white shirt. 

He proudly held up his blood donation, as he made a physical contribution that will be researched as medical professionals seek treatment to the deadly pandemic.

Underwood, a professional athlete who played football for the San Diego Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles and Oakland Raiders organizations, said the thanks the medical professionals who ‘put in so much effort day in and day out to figure this thing out.’

The Bachelor Nation star said he’s ‘looking forward to seeing [the medical staff] again soon for round 2!’

Underwood on March 20 revealed he’d tested positive for COVID-19 in late March in a social media post, saying that he found himself feeling physically exhausted prior to the diagnosis.

‘The main thing is I can’t even walk up a flight of stairs without being out of breath or going to the bathroom without having to sit down because I’m exhausted,’ he said.

After isolating with his girlfriend Cassie Randolph at her family’s Huntington Beach, California home, he said that he recovered just more than two weeks later.

Underwood is one of a number of TV personalities who have been diagnosed with the virus. Among them include ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos and his wife Ali Wentworth, CNN personality Chris Cuomo and his wife Cristina, and CNN’s Brooke Baldwin. Chef Floyd Cardoz, who won on Top Chef Masters died March 25 at 59 from complications to the disease.

As of Thursday, the death total for COVID-19 was at 80,084 people in the U.S., with 1,407,507 total positive diagnoses, The COVID Tracking Project reported. On a global level, 302,376 people have died amid 4,440,989 positive diagnoses worldwide, according to Johns Hopkins University.
