Jimmy soared to fame in 1996 alongside fellow band members Lee Brennan and Spike Dawbarn.

The group split in 2000 but delighted fans when they reunited in 2008, and then again in 2012.

They had several top 10 hits including Bodyshakin, Private Number and All I Want Is You.

The group recently joined other 90s boybands including 5ive, Damage and A1 on the The Boys Are Back Tour, performing at venues up and down the country.

However, due to the pandemic, their summer shows have been cancelled.

In 2017, Jimmy bravely discussed the moment he contemplated taking his own life whilst struggling with drug and alcohol abuse.

Speaking during an appearance on Loose Women, he admitted that at his lowest point he sat on the end of the bed with a bottle of whiskey in one hand and a selection of pills in the other, but thankfully realised what he would be ‘leaving behind’ before it was too late.

The A Little Bit More singer credited his family and friends for keeping him going after he suffered with depression following the break-up of his chart-topping band, 911.

Jimmy explained to the panel that he was unable to cope when his bandmates Lee and Spike decided they wanted to stop performing.

He admitted: ‘I couldn’t handle it waking up without a schedule sheet under my door.

‘I started drinking heavily and I got to the point where I didn’t feel drunk anymore so I was looking for that next buzz, which for me was cocaine. And then depression set in.’

Discussing his lowest moment – which thankfully turned out to be his turning point – the singer recalled: ‘The biggest thing for me was knowing what you’d leave behind with your family.

‘But when you’re sitting there at the end of bed with a bottle of Jack Daniels and a load of tablets not knowing what I’m going to do there… the only thing that kept me there was my mum and dad and everyone who knew me. Knowing what it would do to them.’

He added: ‘People have to be applauded for getting past that point.’

Jimmy admitted that he was lost as he didn’t want 911 to split, and revealed he had ‘a lump in his throat’ as he was forced to make the announcement that the group was disbanding.

Describing himself as ‘bitter’, he added that at the time he lost contact with bandmates Lee and Spike, but they are now back on good terms, and have reformed for UK tours.
