Police hunt for distressed woman seen being forced into a car late at night by man and driven away

  • Police are searching for a woman who was ‘forced into a car and driven away’ 
  • The incident took place in Haringey, north London, at around 11.55pm on May 11
  • Detectives say it is unclear what happened – and are appealing for information 

Police are searching for a woman who was forced into a car by a man and driven away in the middle of the night.  

Officers were called to New River Avenue in Haringey, north London, at 11.55pm on May 11 to reports that someone was bundled into a small dark coloured vehicle.

There was ‘no trace’ of the vehicle or the woman when officers arrived, and it is not yet clear exactly what happened, police say. 

Detectives are appealing for information about the ‘distressed’ woman, described as white, aged between 25 and 30 years old, with blonde hair.

She was wearing black clothing and carrying a grey or white handbag.

Detective Constable Rebecca Mussington, from the North Area Command Unit, said: ‘Whilst it is not entirely clear what happened, our main priority is to establish that this woman is okay. 

‘If this was you, I would urge you to come forward and speak with us. We need to check on your welfare to ensure that you have not come to any harm.

‘I would also like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, and saw what happened.’
