Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer discuss their VERY different parenting styles as the chef gushes of his wife: ‘She’s extraordinarily loving’

They’ve bravely put their relationship in front of cameras for their new cooking show Amy Schumer Learns to Cook.

And in a joint interview, Amy Schumer and husband Chris Fischer – who have one-year-old son Gene together – open up about their very different parenting styles.

Talking to Fatherly this week, Amy explains she’s the nurturer and takes a more gentle approach, while Chris is more adventurous with their little boy.

Amy says: ‘They go on these adventures and come back all dirty and I just have to close my eyes. I just want to carry him around all day on a silk pillow. And Chris is all into toughening him up.’

Chris gushes of the comedian: ‘She’s extraordinarily loving and present. I’m very task-oriented with everything, which makes life kind of hard to rejoice in sometimes.’

He adds, ‘Amy just stops and loves Gene and stares at him and reminds me to do the same.’

The Trainwreck star had plenty of praise for her husband too.

‘They have such a beautiful bond, the two of them. Chris is so capable and kind and loving. He’s just completely surpassed whatever dreams I had of him being a dad.’

Meanwhile, the couple are lucky enough to have had a nanny with them during lockdown in New York, as Amy explains, ‘We have an amazing nanny. We have help. We’re so grateful for that.

‘We watch TV together every night. She’s our friend and family. We love her and she loves Gene and tolerates us. We have a sweet scenario and we feel very lucky for our quarantine situation.’

Now, the duo are keeping themselves busy as Chris attempts to teach Amy how to cook in their new Food Network show.

Amy confesses it was nerve-wracking at first and she was a little defensive.

‘Once I realized it was just us being ourselves I trusted that we were doing the best we could. And he’s the best cook I ever tasted…. which sounds disgusting.’
