Married At First Sight’s Stacey Hampton reveals the truth about her hospitalisation earlier this year after being relentlessly trolled online

Married At First Sight star Stacey Hampton has opened up about her health crisis from earlier this year.

Speaking in a resurfaced Q&A on YouTube, the 26-year-old law graduate didn’t shy away from shedding light on her trip to the hospital.

‘I was on medication and stuff but I am slowly weening myself off and getting back into a normal headspace,’ the reality star said, calling herself ‘better’.

‘I’m prioritising what is reality’: Married At First Sight’s Stacey Hampton, 26, has revealed the truth about the emergency hospital visit earlier this year after being relentless trolled online

‘I’m taking every day as it comes and learning to prioritise reality with what is not reality,’ she added.

‘I’m trying to get a grasp of where I am today [mentally] and not worry about the future because it does take its toll on you [the anxiety].’

She finished by saying she is glad the show is over, adding it was ‘back to reality,’ once the finale aired.

Stacey revealed the brutal backlash from appearing on the show forced her to seek medical help in April.

In a brief statement to Daily Mail Australia at the time, Stacey said: ‘Yes I went back to [hospital] not long ago and was put on antidepressants.’

Stacey admitted she was on Valium as she filmed the reunion in January, where her alleged ‘affair’ with Mikey Pembroke was exposed.

'I'm trying to get a grasp of where I am today [mentally] and not worry about the future because it does take its toll on you [the anxiety],' she added, revealing her strategy

Stacey insisted she was fine, but was still medicated following the visit.

She said: ‘I’m okay now, still on the medication. I’d took myself off antidepressants ages ago after first going on them when my brother died.’

Valium, or Diazepam, is a medicine that typically produces a calming effect. It’s often used to treat anxiety disorders, alcohol withdrawal symptoms, or muscle spasms.

Since the season premiered, Stacey has been forced to defend herself from trolls on social media daily, who have targeted her looks, lifestyle and relationships.

This has led Stacey to be an outspoken critic of bullying, with her latest project a testament to helping others.

Last week, Stacey announced she is going to launching a nonprofit postnatal depression charity called Not Alone, Always Here Inc., based in Melbourne.

She said of the new venture: ‘I have started my own charity. It’s for postnatal depression.

‘It’s to target people who don’t understand the symptoms, they don’t understand what they’re enduring and going through.’

Stacey, who suffered postnatal depression herself, added: ‘I think there is a much greater need for it, now more than ever because of this pandemic.’
