Bindi Irwin rocks ‘global pandemic chic’ in a face mask after spending her honeymoon with Chandler Powell in khakis at Australia Zoo

Australia Zoo may have closed its doors to visitors due to the coronavirus pandemic, but important conservation work is still continuing behind the scenes.

And Bindi Irwin shared a lighthearted Instagram post on Thursday drawing attention to some of the safety precautions behind taken by staff members.

The 21-year-old posed in the zoo’s signature khaki uniform and a white face mask, joking in the caption that she was looking ‘global pandemic chic’.

‘Australia Zoo global pandemic chic… Still trying to work out how to wear a mask with glasses without them fogging up. Any suggestions?’ she wrote.

While tourists can no longer visit the Sunshine Coast animal park, it’s understood work is continuing at Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital.

It comes after Bindi revealed she was spending her honeymoon at Australia Zoo because of COVID-19 travel restrictions.

She had married fellow conservationist Chandler Powell, 23, in a private ceremony on the grounds of the world-famous zoo on March 25.

Earlier this week, the wildlife warriors confirmed on Instagram they hadn’t strayed far from their usual routine during their first days as husband and wife.

Bindi shared a photo of the newlyweds in their signature khaki uniforms while feeding a giraffe.

‘Our honeymoon may not have turned out as we’d planned, but we’re grateful to be spending time with our beautiful animals,’ she wrote.

‘Things are incredibly busy here while we’re temporarily not open. We’re all working together to make sure our animal family is happy.’

Bindi and Chandler’s wedding was filmed for U.S. cable channel Animal Planet and will air in Australia on May 23.
