Nicky Whelan has lifted the lid on her doomed marriage to ex-husband, former NFL player Kerry Rhodes.
The Australian actress, 38, who split from Kerry, 37, in October 2017 after just six months of marriage, described her rollercoaster romance in an interview with Thursday’s Who magazine.
‘There were moments when I was on my knees and then there were moments when I laughed harder than I ever have,’ she explained.

‘Break-ups don’t always have to be a sad thing depending on how you want to look at them,’ she said.
Nicky refused to speak publicly about her divorce for one year after the breakup.
‘I never ever spoke about my divorce and neither did he [ex-husband Kerry Rhodes].I liked that we unconsciously made this effort to do that,’ Nicky told the publication.

The Neighbours actress finally broke her silence in October 2018 by penning an emotional essay on Instagram.
‘I thought that I had lost everything – but in fact I had gained more love for myself than ever before,’ she wrote at the time.
Nicky and Kerry met while filming a comedy sketch in Los Angeles back in 2015 and became engaged in 2016.

They tied the knot at the glamorous Beverly Hills Hotel on April 15, 2017.
‘We love the tradition of marriage, and we love being able to call each other husband and wife. We both understand that our relationship takes work, and we made a choice that that’s what we are wanting,’ Nicky told People magazine at the time.
Nicky announced their split six months later, telling The Daily Telegraph: ‘I can confirm that I have left him.’

Refusing to comment further, the blonde added: ‘But other than that I am not willing to comment any further, because anything else I say is going to make things tricky.’
In the past, the Kerry made headlines after a picture of him with his arm around his assistant Alton Craig emerged.
He was forced to publicly address speculation surrounding his sexuality.
‘Photos have been circulating of my former assistant and I that have caused some rumors regarding my sexuality, and I wanted to address the situation,’ he told TMZ.
‘I am not gay. The shots were taken during a past vacation in a casual environment with my entire business team.
‘I know a lot of people are recently talking about athletes struggling to come out to their fans right now, and I support them, as well as wish those individuals comfort.’
After splitting from Kerry, Nicky went on to date Canadian actor Kyle Shmid, 35.
The couple debuted their relationship on the red carpet in October 2019, but have since parted ways.
