Amanda Holden scores a legion of cameos for official video to her chart-topping charity hit

Amanda Holden has released the glittering official music video for her chart-topping charity hit Somewhere Over The Rainbow.

Showing the video comes from the heart, Colonel Tom Moore, who raised more than £32million for the NHS, along with Amanda’s daughters Alexa, 14, and Hollie, eight, and Alesha Dixon’s little girl Azura, six, all make cameos.  

The video opens with a delighted Amanda walking into the recording studio before  a montage of people applauding for the NHS and key workers – with all proceeds from the song’s downloads going to NHS Charities Together.

The star’s daughters make an appearance alongside her husband Chris Hughes as they applaud on their doorstep while Amanda’s BGT co-judge Alesha’s eldest daughter Azura is also seen in a candid snap with a rainbow light across her face.

A clip then plays of Amanda singing Happy Birthday to Colonel Tom on his 100th birthday last week.  

The NHS hero, who admits to having a soft spot for Holden, was treated to a birthday message from the star as she presented her daily Heart Radio breakfast show with Jamie Theakston.

Emulating screen legend Marilyn Monroe’s iconic birthday tribute to former US President John F. Kennedy, the 49-year old delighted the veteran after calling him at his Bedfordshire home.

Amanda is also seen donning a glittering dress while singing to an empty theatre before belting out the track in her living room while wearing an ‘All In This Together’ t-shirt.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge told MailOnline on Monday how thrilled she is with the news, but that she can’t rest on her laurels with four days to go until the weekly chart update – urging fans to keep downloading to help her pay ‘a lifetime of debt’ to the NHS.

She also revealed that there are plans for her to perform on Britain’s Got Talent’s live shows going forward, as agreed with show boss and co-judge Simon Cowell.

Of the news that she is at number one currently, Amanda told us: ‘Simon doesn’t know yet. As soon as LA wakes up I’m going to be straight on the phone to [Simon’s partner] Lauren [because Simon doesn’t use a mobile phone].

‘He donates a lot to charity but I’m going to check he’s downloaded the song too as every little helps!

‘I will be performing on the [BGT] live shows when the album comes out. I’m not sure when that will be yet. Simon has agreed to me performing. I’m holding him to it. A verbal contact is as good as any these days!’

Amanda has been extremely open about her gratitude for the NHS, who have helped her and her family through difficult medical situations over the years.  

She said: ‘As everyone knows the NHS has been there for us as a family many times over the last decade. As far as I’m concerned I owe them a lifetime debt.

‘Every penny from the downloads of this song will go to NHS Charities Together so for it to be the number one most downloaded track today is not only unbelievable, because I’ve never released a song in my life, but I feel really happy that I’m able to help the NHS in this small way.

‘The rainbow has become a symbol of hope and I’ve been overwhelmed with the messages I’ve received from people saying they have hope we will reach the other side of that rainbow very soon and the world will be a better place.

‘Someone messaged me on Instagram with my song playing with a real rainbow in the sky and that really touched me.’  

Amanda’s song – which is released in line with Marks & Spencer’s All In This Together campaign – comes amid the world’s ongoing coronavirus crisis, having recorded the track last year as an album filler.

She went on: ‘[Being number one] doesn’t feel real! We were only having the conversations last week with Marks & Spencer and my record label Virgin EMI to make all this happen.

‘It’s early days as there are still another four days to go so if people have a spare 99p jump on iTunes and download the song. We want to raise as much money as possible with this song. It all goes to NHS Charities Together.’
