BRITNEY Spears will remain under conservatorship until at least the end of August a judge has decided.
Due to the coronavirus and social distancing rules, the court postponed a ruling on the conservatorship until August 22 and in the meantime the singer’s father remains in control of her estate, according to court documents seen by The Blast.
Britney’s father, Jamie Spears, has been her conservator since 2008 and has power over Britney’s multimillion-dollar estate, though her personal affairs are now handled by a care manager, Jodi Pais Montgomery.
Last month, Britney, 38, went ‘on strike’ and refused to work in protest of the conservatorship.
A source talked to Us Weekly and said the 38-year-old singer “doesn’t want to work” out of resentment for her father, Jamie Spears, and the rules of her conservatorship.
The source said: “Britney has expressed that she doesn’t want to work again because she doesn’t want to continue to essentially keep herself under the conservatorship.
“Britney resents that her dad is given a monthly allowance which is around $10,000 a month for his services overseeing her finances.”
After Jamie had a fight with her son Sean Preston, Britney has kept her distance from her dad.
Her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, has a restraining order against Jamie, which means he can’t be near the kids.
A source said: “Britney hasn’t been spending time with her dad, and very much remains angry that she doesn’t have the boys as much as she did in the past.
“Jamie worries about her not having a set schedule for work that keeps her busy.”
The news of the extension comes just days after Britney revealed she accidentally set her home gym on fire.
The pop star shared a workout routine with fans on Instagram and admitted she only had two pieces of equipment and one mirror left after the incident which happened at the end of 2019.
“I am in my gym right now, I haven’t been here in six months because I burned my gym down…” she says matter of fact, adding: “I had two candles and one thing led to another and I burned it down.”
The mom-of-two then posted a two-minute workout video without offering fans any further details.
She captioned the post: “It was an accident… but yes… I burnt it down.
“I walked past the door to the gym and flames 🔥🔥🔥🔥 BOOM !!!!!! By the Grace of God the alarm 🚨 went off after that and yippy hoorah nobody got hurt.
“Unfortunately now I have only two pieces of equipment left lol and a one-sided mirror gym 🙄🙄🙄 !!!!! But it could be much worse so I’m grateful. Pssss I like working out better outside anyways 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸 !!!”
Most recently, the singer entertained her followers as she twirled around her living room to the 1987 hit Faith by George Michael.
The Toxic singer demonstrated her impressive lip-syncing skills with a TV remote while she displayed her figure in a pink sports bra and blue-print shorts.
