ITV made the agonising decision to postpone the Voice semi-finals and final in March, little more than a week before the live show was scheduled to begin.

A rep confirmed they made the decision, which came before the UK was officially put on lockdown, in order to “keep everyone as safe and secure as possible”.

A source said: “The postponement of the series caused quite a bit of anxiety among the contestants still in the competition.

“The live shows were so close, and now who knows how long they’ll have to wait until they can compete again.

“The acts on the show formed a close bond and decided they wanted to do something to raise money for the NHS, in the hope that at the same time it would raise the semi-finalists’ spirits.”
