AMY Roloff’s best friend Lisa has criticized her son Zach for not acting “professionally” on camera when his mom shared her happy engagement news.
Fans were surprised to see Zach appear unhappy with Amy’s news that boyfriend Chris Marek had dropped to one knee and proposed.
But now Lisa has voiced those disappointments, telling Amy on an Instagram Live: “A lot of people understand Zach’s reaction was partially the divorce and what’s going on, but [he could have been] professional and said, ‘Hey we are really happy for you, here’s a hug, we love you’.”
She added: “People were expecting a different reaction.”
Amy admitted that her news “did take Zach off guard, and he was unprepared to handle all that” as she shared that her son had previously asked his mom and dad Matt to tell him important news like an engagement off camera.
Amy said: “This was one moment where – out of a few, not many, but a few – to give someone a heads up so they can embrace it and have a different natural response.
“That, in case our relationship went anywhere beyond just being a relationship, could he have a heads up if we were going to get engaged or married or anything.
“It was just one moment out of a few and I, unfortunately, forgot about that.”
Amy split from her husband of 30 years, Matt, in 2016, but their split has at times been bitter.
In this week’s episode, fans saw Amy admit she had “no idea what my kids’ reactions will be”.
The short clip then reveals Tori’s shock as she exclaims “what?” and Zach looks away, before scrubbing his face with his hand in disbelief.
Matt is now dating new love Caryn Chandler, and Amy and Chris revealed earlier in April that they will be inviting the pair to their wedding.
However, Chris, 55, noted that they “have the impression that it’s not something” Matt, 58, and Chandler, 52 are likely “interested” in attending.
“They’re welcome if they’d like to come,” Chris said.

Amy told US Weekly: “I just don’t want to invite someone because we’re inviting them. They would be invited, but I wouldn’t expect them to come because of what they expressed in the past.
“But the past is the past. Things can change in the future. We’ll see.”
Amy admitted she “would not expect” to score an invitation from Matt and Chandler if the duo were to ever tie the knot.
