In the new series, Hild is seen with Father Beocca (Ian Hart) at Winchester, as she is acting as a guide for King Edward (Timothy Innes) and Lady Aelswith (Eliza Butterworth).
Uhtred asks them both to join him on his venture to claim back Bebbanburg, but Hild suggests her fighting days are over and she stays behind.
Fans have been asking whether Hild will fight again alongside Uhtred in a new series, and some of the main cast members have called for her to fight again.
In a live question and answer session with Radio Times, Dreymon, Butterworth and executive producer Nigel Marchant said they would love to see Hild return to battle.
Butterworth said “Aelswith should be wielding a sword” alongside Hild and Marchant said her fighting days may not be over.
