The Grand Tour cancelled: Episode 3 on hold confirms Jeremy Clarkson | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Television production around the world has been stalled due to the ongoing outbreak of the coronavirus. As lockdown restrictions continue, The Grand Tour is among the vast list of Amazon Prime series put on hold amid the current uncertainty.

The entertainment industry has recently been dealt some major blows in the ongoing fight to halt the spread of coronavirus.

As non-essential workers are being advised to stay indoors and work from home whenever possible, filming and post-production has been stopped for popular TV series.

Amazon Prime’s The Grand Tour was no exception, and the ongoing fourth season is set to experience a major delay due to the current restrictions.

As well as restricting people to their homes, world leaders have also put a stop to commercial flights around the globe.

The Grand Tour star Jeremy Clarkson recently revealed the team were planning on travelling to Russia for the third episode.

Sadly, the trip was set to take place in March and was swiftly cancelled when the coronavirus outbreak began to spread.

Speaking to the DriveTribe podcast, Jeremy said: “The only real problem we had is we were supposed to have gone to Russia two weeks ago to film the next one but that really wasn’t possible.

“Well it might have been possible to get there but it sure as hell wouldn’t have been possible to get back.”

Jeremy was also able to confirm some bad news regarding series producer Andy Millman.

Currently, episode two’s trip to Madagascar consists of more than 1,000 hours of raw footage, but the producer has been unable to complete the episode due to contracting the coronavirus earlier this year.

Jeremy added: “The producer of the show, Andy Wilman, who also edits it for months and months and months… he had to take to his bed a few weeks ago with this weird new flu.

“Barely able to breathe, I’m not actually making this up, barely able to breathe then he coughed his spleen out on a number of occasions.”

Thankfully, producer Andy has since recovered from the virus, but current lockdown restrictions means he won’t be able to complete the final edit for episode two until the rules have been lifted.

The producer confirmed: “Then there’s three more months of shaping it because, as you know, we set off without a script. Then there’s all the back and forth and that’s before Amazon gets it. They keep it for five weeks.”

Although filming in Madagascar had been completed, it may be some time before Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammon and James May’s trip to the East African island will finally become available on Amazon.

The Grand Tour season 4 returns to Amazon Prime Video in 2020.
