AFTER weeks of mystery, the case of which celebrity was performing as the Astronaut on The Masked Singer has been solved.
The season 3 contestant was none other than Hunter Hayes.
While many fans guessed the Astronaut’s identity from the start, others might be asking after the reveal, “Who is Hunter Hayes?”
To start with, he’s a 28-year-old country singer, best known for his 2012 single Wanted and 2013 tune I Want Crazy.
He explained, while donning the Astronaut mask in clue packages, that he’s ready for the world to know more about him, as well as for everyone to join him on his ever-changing musical journey after The Masked Singer.
Hunter released his self-titled studio debut album, via Atlantic Records, in 2011, and it peaked at 1 on the US Billboard Top Country Albums chart and 7 on the US Billboard 200 chart.
It was certified double platinum after selling over one million copies and featured the hit ballad Wanted, which was certified platinum five times over.
Though this was a major turning point in his career, Hunter actually got his start with music much earlier on in life.
The Masked Singer season 3 competitor started singing when he was just a toddler, performing both locally in his Louisiana hometown and on national TV.
At just seven years old, he performed for President Bill Clinton at a White House lawn party, which was one of his clues on The Masked Singer.
In his teen years, he competed on the short-lived NBC reality show America’s Most Talented Kid, which also featured now-famous faces like Taylor Lautner and Jordin Sparks.
Since then, he’s gone on to release four studio albums, earn five Grammy Awards nominations — including Best New Artist in 2013 — and win multiple honors from award shows like the American Country Awards, Teen Choice Awards and CMT Music Awards.
The 28-year-old multi-instrumentalist was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in September 2012, the same month he started as the opening act for Carrie Underwood’s Blown Away tour.
A couple of years later, performing for a good cause helped him break a Guinness World Record.

Hunter earned the accolade after smashing the record for most concerts played in multiple cities in 24 hours, all while helping raise awareness of child hunger.
Most recently, the country star release his new single Heartbreak in January 2019, followed by his latest album, Wild Blue (Part I), in August 2019.
It’s the first installment in a trilogy of albums, though a release date for part has not yet been revealed.
