Kristin Cavallari fought endlessly with husband Jay Cutler over work issues before their divorce, sources told The Sun.
The businesswoman was irate when she learned two major networks were looking to hire the retired NFL star as an announcer, but he turned down both gigs, two friends claimed.

Jay argued the jobs “weren’t exactly what he wanted,” a source explained.
The source said: “She was floored. Just completely in disbelief.”
“She comes back from the Oscars, where she worked the red carpet for E!, and she finds out he has basically turned down ESPN and CBS.
“Two broadcast giants want him in their booth and he is not grateful or excited, but pissed that he wasn’t offered a position as a sideline reporter.”
The source pointed out that Kristin grew up with “lots of privileged kids” and doesn’t want to set a bad example for their children.
“Jay’s nonchalance about future job prospects is a problem. She wants her kids to see both mom and dad working.
“She also makes no secret of how much she likes Jay being on the road.”
The source claimed Kristin “hustles” as Jay moves toward being a “stay-at-home dad.”
“Kristin has always made her own money and kept herself relevant.
“She is opening stores, she is at the Oscars, she is doing press, she is at fashion week.
“She shows up, she does the work and then goes home to be a mom.”

That friend also noted that Kristin was the “most supportive wife ever,” giving birth to three children and backing Jay in every life decision.
Kristin even supported him in 2017 when he chose to play another season of football and turn down an on-air job at Fox.
Despite the obvious tension, Kristin was thrown completely off-guard when Jay did file divorce papers, one friend told The Sun.
As The Sun exclusively reported, Jay filed first, claiming he has been the “at-home” parent, an obvious jab at his wife.
A source said: “Kristin is trying to stay calm and tell herself that this is coming from Jay’s lawyer.”
“But she is concerned that he might try something else to get the kids, since he has no job and all the time in the world to be with them while she is off doing her thing.”

Kristin, who retaliated by accusing Jay of “inappropriate marital conduct,” is not afraid to fight back though.
“Jay may be a big dude who played in the NFL,” said a friend.
“But Kristin is no wallflower and knows what to do to keep him in line.”
Reps for Kristin and Jay did not respond to requests for comment from The Sun.
The couple announced their split on social media earlier this week.

Kristen wrote: “With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce.”
“We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of.
“This is just the situation of two people growing apart.”
