Katy Perry: daughter flashes the middle finger during an ultrasound

Katy Perry was surprised to see her daughter flip a middle finger during an ultrasound this week.

But the Roar singer told Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest via Skype during Live With Kelly And Ryan on Wednesday, where the 35-year-old was joined by her American Idol co-stars Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, that it made her happy. 

‘I went to a doctor’s appointment yesterday and I had an ultrasound and she was moving around,’ said the fiancee of Lord Of The Rings actor Orlando Bloom. ‘I have a video of her giving me the middle finger and I was like: ‘This is my child.” 

The child is due this summer and Katy has said she may name her after her late grandmother Ann Pearl.

Katy said her husband was sleeping during the interview, but she let fans know he was on her mind as she wore a jacket with his face all over it.

Katy also said that she was only too happy to be expecting a girl. 

‘I was wondering who was going to inherit all my absurd costumes!’ she said. 

Being pregnant during a global pandemic is not an easy thing.  A source has told DailyMail.com: ‘They both try to exercise and eat well so they can stay healthy.’

The insider added: ‘Katy really hopes everything has calmed down with the virus by the time the baby will be born this summer.

‘She tries not to stress about the birth, but she definitely thinks about it a lot.’ 

She also spoke to Seacrest this week about her pregnancy: ‘I’m having cravings that I cannot necessarily fulfill if I want to but, you know, I think there is a lot of things that I am grateful for these days.’

She also told ET this week: ‘This time has brought in a lot of balance, probably necessary balance, It’s actually good for me to prep this kind of mindset, because even after quarantine is done and everyone goes out and celebrates, I’ll be probably still at home.

‘The crazy thing is everyone’s drinking during quarantine, and I’m, like, not. Like, help me.’

She has found new ways to ‘bond’ with her family. She added: ‘I have found a lot of ways to be incredibly grateful and to bond with my family on a deeper level than I ever have. Rather than just a vacation or a holiday, there’s a new foundation that is being laid within families, between partners. I just think people that are quarantined together will never forget this time.’

And Katy expressed her gratitude for her friends and fellow American Idol judges where they check in with each other’. 

‘We remembered actually Lionel telling us if the apocalypse ever happens – this was, like, a couple seasons ago – just meet me at my house or this special place,’ she said. ‘And so early on in quarantine times, I checked in with Lionel and I was like, “Are we still good for that? Can we come over?”‘

The Dark Horse hitmaker revealed her pregnancy news recently when she dropped the music video for recent single Never Worn White, which showed her cradling her baby bump at the end.

Katy then confirmed the news in a subsequent Instagram video, admitting it is ‘the longest secret’ she has ‘ever had to keep’.

She said: ‘I’m late … but you already knew that. There’s a lot that will be happening this summer, not only will I be giving birth – literally – but also figuratively to something you guys have been waiting for. 

‘So let’s call it a double whammy, a two fore. I’m excited, we’re excited and we’re happy – and it’s probably the longest secret I’ve ever had to keep.

‘I knew I would tell you in the best way, which is through a piece of music because that’s how I speak to you.’

With the world taken by the current coronavirus pandemic, Katy and Orlando – who got engaged earlier this year – are following advice to stay at home and are trying to ‘exercise and eat well’. 

‘Katy really hopes everything has calmed down with the virus by the time the baby will be born this summer. She tries not to stress about the birth, but she definitely thinks about it a lot.’

It was recently reported that Katy and Orlando have been experiencing some ‘ups and downs’ during her pregnancy according to a Thursday report from US Weekly.

A source close to the couple revealed that the relationship between the singer and 43-year-old actor ‘has changed since she got pregnant.’

Of the pair’s relationship, the insider said: ‘Orlando and her are having some ups and downs right now.

‘Katy is dealing with the nerves of being a first-time parent, and Orlando is stressing about having a baby in their lives at this time.’

The Firework hitmaker is very happy about becoming a mother for the first time despite the reported friction in their relationship as the source added that Katy ”is overjoyed and elated that she is pregnant.

‘She’s always wanted to be a mom.’

Of the pregnancy news, Katy told fans back in March: ‘I’m excited, we’re excited and we’re happy – and it’s probably the longest secret I’ve ever had to keep.’   

Last month, singer Katy announced the passing of her grandmother Ann Pearl Hudson and reports claim that she is set to name her baby girl after her relative.

A source revealed on THE NAUGHTY BUT NICE WITH ROB podcast that she plans to name her daughter after her grandma.

They shared: ‘[Katy] plans to name her Pearl or Hudson or Ann.’

‘Katy believes that it is no coincidence that as her granny’s soul leaves the earth, another soul arrives,’ the source added.

Katy and Orlando first began dating in 2016 and after getting back together following a brief split, the couple announced their engagement on Valentine’s Day last year.
