Chris Evans reveals his family regret as he holds auction for the NHS | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Chris Evans, 53, and his team have set up an auction to raise money for the NHS made up of items stored in his garage. But the Virgin Radio DJ revealed there was one item he and his family are regretting giving away.

Fans may remember last week Chris and co-star Vassos Alexander were discussing the opportunity to set up an auction, with all proceeds going to the NHS during this coronavirus public health emergency.

The national health service is under intense pressure while trying to battle COVID-19, with staff on the frontline risking their lives everyday.

There have been numerous charity initiatives set up in order to raise funds and individuals have been taking it upon themselves to make a difference.

Now they’ve done it and they’re raising an amazing amount of cash for all the brave workers.

Speaking to his listeners yesterday, Chris updated them with how it’s all going: “So, there’s an auction underway! And it’s doing really well!” he gushed.

“It’s for the NHS, if you go to the website our page comes up straight away because the beautiful people – Paul and his team there – have put us on the cover page.”

He proceeded to tell fans about some of the items before focusing on one in particular, that he regrets giving away.

“We are on the homepage with our 19 items from the Evans’ garage sale and this stuff is almost all from our garage – not the sofas of course,” he explained, as the auction includes two couches.

“We’re [his family] like ‘What should we do? Put a module in all the rooms?'”, he recalled a brief conversation he had with his wife.

He continued: “‘No! We’ll give it the NHS’, so we’re doing that!”

From midnight yesterday, the sofa had six bids, with it currently priced at £2,300.

And it is a whopper!

But Chris will sleep easy knowing it went to a good home and the proceeds are all benefitting those who need it most.

While the world grinds to a halt as the virus continues to spread, the ex Top Gear presenter encouraged others to show health care workers how much they are appreciated.

“We must show them we love them,” he exclaimed.

“However you see fit — a handmade poster in your front window, a flag flying from the roof of your van, a salute when an ambulance or paramedic passes you in the street.

“It is everyone’s duty to love the NHS.”
