The Greatest Dancer has been axed following its second season.
It was confirmed by the BBC on Tuesday that the dance competition show would not return, after it was reported that it had been dropped by the channel following dwindling ratings.
A spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘Whilst there are no plans for a further series of The Greatest Dancer, we are proud of the show and would like to thank everyone involved in bringing so many memorable moments to BBC One.’

The Sun reported on Tuesday that the BBC show was cancelled despite drawing in younger viewers, as it was claimed the decision was inevitable.
A source speaking to the publication said of the show: ‘The writing was on the wall a while back.
‘Now the BBC and everyone involved has decided enough is enough and they’ve binned it.
‘Critics liked it and it pulled in a younger audience. But the cost of the big production for the ratings the show delivered was too much.’

The show saw aspiring dancers show off their skills for Dance Captains Cheryl, Oti Mabuse, Matthew Morrison and Todrick Hall, who joined the panel for its second season, while Alesha Dixon and Jordan Banjo presented the show
In March, The Sun claimed that the show’s finale struggled during its ratings battle against ITV’s The Voice, with just 2.8million viewers tuning in.
The Greatest Dancer was said to have been beaten by BBC drama Casualty and was down by more than a million from 2019- where 4.1million viewers tuned in.
At the end of the second season Michael and Jowita were crowned The Greatest Dancer champions, under dance captain Oti’s guidance.
The professional dancer couldn’t contain her delight as she learned the Polish duo had received the most votes, meaning they’d won £50,000 and the chance to perform on Strictly Come Dancing.
Michael and Jowita beat out fellow finalists Dance Point, Lily and Joseph and Harrison to be crowned the winners, after all four acts wowed with their incredible routines.
