Dani Dyer reveals dad Danny ‘wasn’t thrilled’ about her going on Love Island and hates it when guys just want to talk about EastEnders actor on dates

Dani Dyer has spoken about how her father Danny reacted to the news she was going on Love Island.

The reality star, who won the ITV dating show with Jack Fincham in 2018, told Emma Gannon in the latest Ctrl Alt Delete episode she only told the EastEnders actor two weeks prior to flying out to the Mallorcan villa.

Dani, 24, also discussed how she ‘hates’ when guys bring up her famous father, 42, on dates.

Talking about the moment she told her parents about the show, Dani said: ‘It was really tough because my mum, I told first.. you know “mum I’ve been approached for Love Island” and she was like “go for it, go for it”.

‘My mum was so pushy, “why don’t you just go on Love Island, you don’t really know what you’re doing” – great faith in me mum.

‘But it was very like, you know, “just go on it”, and I was like, “I don’t know how I’m going to tell my dad”.’

Dani revealed when she finally told him two weeks before flying out for the show, it was “very, very awkward in the house”.

‘He wasn’t thrilled about it,’ she admitted. ‘He didn’t really understand the concept of it and I was so glad when they won a BAFTA because I was like…see dad it really is a cool programme.

‘But my mum and dad didn’t really get along. They sort of didn’t tell me that. Cause obviously when I was in there they were so worried.’

Dani also discussed the perils of dating, saying it was big turn-off if a guy fawned over her dad.

Now playing Mick Carter on EastEnders, Danny’s breakthrough role was as Moff in Human Traffic, with other notable roles as Billy the Limpet in Mean Machine, and as Tommy Johnson in The Football Factory.

Dani said: ‘Imagine you going on a date with a guy and they keep talking about your dad, you’d be like…what?

‘I feel like they act like my dad…they don’t know my dad, my dad is so not the persona he’s portrayed as, so when they try to feel like they know him I’m like, “hun, you don’t know him” let’s just go now. You know, we’ll split the bill.’

Luckily for Dani, she isn’t on the dating scene and celebrated her one-year anniversary with on-off boyfriend Sammy Kimmence on Sunday.

The pair posed for sweet Instagram snaps to celebrate the milestone.

The couple showed no signs of their recent relationship troubles as they kicked back on sun-loungers and enjoyed their cider.

Earlier this month, Sammy called the Love Island star ‘my rock’, weeks after they reunited following their brief split.
