Vin Diesel posts bizarre F9 poster claiming he’s trying to ‘mitigate a war’ between Universal Studios and the ‘prejudiced’ Producers Guild

Vin Diesel hasn’t been posting much on Instagram, but he returned Sunday night with a bizarre poster for his upcoming Fast & Furious movie F9 while hinting at a ‘war’ between Universal Studios and the Producers Guild of America.

The 52-year-old actor (real name Mark Sinclair) posted a bizarre poster for F9 that had clearly been edited in Photoshop, almost giving it the look of a Halloween movie with a jack-o-lantern and a dark house in the background.

Diesel apologized to his fans for not posting much, before delivering a cryptic message about some sort of conflict, perhaps involving his producer’s credit on F9.

‘Happy creative Sunday everyone… sorry I haven’t posted much lately, I have been trying to mitigate a war between Universal studios and the p.g.a. Prejudice guild of America,’ Diesel said.

The poster itself was actually designed by an Instagram user dubbed Mommy Torretto, a photo editor whose Instagram is filled with Fast & Furious poster parodies.

Mommy Torretto posted the poster on Instagram on Halloween 2019, though why Diesel used it in his post is unclear.

While Diesel did crop out the bottom featuring the old release date and Universal Pictures logo, the Made by Mommy Torretto watermark is still visible on the poster.

Universal Pictures announced in March that F9 will be pushed nearly an entire year, from May 22, 2020 to April 2, 2021, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

As for Diesel’s cryptic message, there is no indication why he is referring to the Producers Guild of America as the Prejudice Guild of America.

Diesel has been a part of the franchise since the beginning, starring in 2001’s The Fast and the Furious, though he was not in 2003’s 2 Fast 2 Furious and only had a cameo in 2006’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

When he returned to the franchise to star in 2009’s Fast & Furious he became a producer on that film.

He has since served as a producer on 2011’s Fast Five, 2013’s Fast & Furious 6, 2015’s Furious 7, 2017’s The Fate of the Furious and he’s currently credited as a producer on F9.

The Fast & Furious franchise has been a lucrative one for Universal Pictures, with the nine-movie franchise earning $1.6 billion domestic and $5.9 billion worldwide.

F9 will not feature Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who joined the franchise in 2011’s Fast Five, helping it become a box office juggernaut.

The Rock starred in the spin-off Hobbs & Shaw, following his much-publicized feud with Diesel on the set of The Fate of the Furious.
