Sam Thompson EXCLUSIVE: Made In Chelsea star ‘felt like he’d CHEATED’ on Zara McDermott

The meeting of Sam Thompson’s ex-girlfriend Tiffany Watson and new love Zara McDermott has been the cause of much strife during the current series of Made In Chelsea.

And ahead of Monday night’s season finale, Sam has revealed how an innocent carpool between him and Tiff causes yet more tears for Zara.

‘Basically me and Tiff shared an Uber. And that’s been f**king annoying!’ MIC veteran Sam told MailOnline. ‘I bumped into her on a night out. I was training for the marathon at the time, so I wasn’t drinking. We have lots of the same friends and so I just thought now’s a good time to have that chat with her.

Feeling guilty: Sam Thompson ‘felt like he’d CHEATED’ on Zara McDermott after innocently sharing a cab with ex Tiffany Watson

‘We chatted for about half an hour and then I said I needed to head home and she suggested we share an Uber. I thought, is it odd if we do that or is it more odd if I say no to it.’

Sam and Tiff – who both live in Fulham – ended up sharing a taxi ride.

‘It was just a snap decision. You can’t win either way. If you say no, she might think I’m bitter. If I say yes, people might start thinking there’s still feelings there.’

Monday night’s episode will see this information come to light, with Zara flying off the handle about it.

‘I genuinely felt like I’d cheated – it was just a carpool!’ Sam explained. ‘When I agreed to the cab ride it was a well-informed decision, I wasn’t drinking, we’d had a nice chat.’

Sam admitted that it doesn’t help when the other girls on Made In Chelsea rile Zara up about things.

‘There are lots of girls on the show who try and rain on your parade,’ he said. ‘Zara will sit down with girls who aren’t my biggest fan and they’ll hear about the Uber thing and be all “Oh my God, how dare he?”

‘Next time I’ll just take the awkward route and won’t get the cab!’

Sam did admit, however, that he understands how Zara must feel to be faced with his ex all the time.

‘It can’t be easy. But I have learnt that I need to take my girlfriend’s feelings into account. Because I know I don’t care for Tiff in that way anymore,’ Sam mused. ‘I am so confident in the fact I love Zara that I think I must have just put her feelings on the back-burner.

‘I did think she was being silly at first but she was just feeling uncomfortable.’

In last week’s episode, Sam and Zara had a chat with Tiff in which Sam incessantly pressed on about how great she is, leaving Zara furious.

‘I came out of that thinking it was great. I was like, “awesome, we can all be friends”. Because I am so in love with Zara I only see me chatting to Tiff as a friendly thing.

‘But because I feel like that doesn’t mean Zara doesn’t and so she was surprised that I was so emphatically praising Tiff. To me, I was just greeting an old friend.’

Sam admits that he has changed a lot since he was with Tiff, who left MIC for a two-year break.

‘I don’t even remember the guy who was going out with Tiff,’ Sam said of himself. ‘I don’t even view it as the same lifetime.’

Explaining why he handled the situation as he did, he said: ‘It’s just my biggest weaknesses – overcompensating. I worry things are going to get awkward and so I say and do certain things to try and alleviate that but it makes it too intense. It’s a character flaw of mine.

‘If something feels like its going a negative way, I do my utmost to make sure it doesn’t and push it too far. At least I can draw on these past experiences in the future. all experiences shape you into the bloke you become.’

Made In Chelsea continues on Monday at 9PM on E4.
