Melanie Hill swipes at Coronation Street bosses as she likes tweet begging for ‘better Cathy storylines’ – The Sun

CORONATION Street star Melanie Hill has hinted she’s unhappy with her soap storylines, agreeing with a fan on Twitter who claimed the actress was “underused”.

The 58-year-old joined the soap in 2015 with over 30 years of industry experience, and she first walked the cobbles as a potential love interest for Roy Cropper.

After a turbulent romance with Roy, she has most recently been involved as a witness in her partner Brian’s bullying storyline and has been one of Yasmeen’s few friends to rightly become suspicious of her husband Geoff’s controlling behaviour.

But as one fan tweeted a call out to show bosses to give Cathy a stronger storyline, Melanie replied with an emoji of a red-headed woman crossing her fingers.

“Wish #corrie Cathy had a storyline… she’s a brilliant actress and so underused @melaniejhil give them a kick up the backside @itvcorrie,” tweeted fan Kelly Carson.

Melanie also liked the tweet, as well as replying.

The British actress recently admitted that the cast is “scared” to return to set amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Production on both Corrie and Emmerdale stopped on 23rd March amid fears the virus may spread with the cast in close contact.

Speaking on WTAF – A This Country podcast, the Cathy Matthews actress told hosts Pavo and Neil: “We were absolutely gutted when we had to stop [filming]. But it was getting weird…

“I was meant to be in filming, and I didn’t feel happy about it to be honest. I was still going to go, but everyone was scared.”

“What we shot is eight weeks in the past before we even knew about this virus, so it is weird when you’re watching it and no one is mentioning it,” she added.

“I know they’re trying to keep groups of filming, when we go back, as small as possible.”

Corrie is now airing three times a week, compared to its usual six episodes.
