MasterChef’s Poh Ling Yeow sends fans into a tailspin after sharing four-ingredient pastry

She failed to impress viewers with her take on the classic vanilla slice on MasterChef on Sunday night.

But over the weekend, Poh Ling Yeow, 47, sent fans into a frenzy when she revealed how she makes her simple four-ingredient caramelised pastry for the recipe on Instagram.

‘Gets me every time -that with just butter, flour, salt and water, you really can conjure magic. And the fragrance of properly caramelised pastry, surely one of the dreamiest things on the planet,’ she wrote. 

Fans immediately started commenting on her post, saying the pastry was ‘baked to perfection’ and asking her to share the recipe.

‘Wow, now that is beautifully baked,’ one person commented. ‘Wow yum and there’s no sugar in this pastry either? It is perfect,’ another agreed.

Please please please can I have the recipe,’ another person wrote. 

‘Just saw you [make it] on MasterChef, this looks absolutely amazing, can you share the recipe?,’ another person asked.

‘I’m drooling over this,’ one person commented. ‘All those layers. Magic,’ another said.

This comes after Poh failed to wow viewers on Sunday night with her take on the classic vanilla slice, with many quick to vent on Twitter that her culinary creation seemed a bit ‘basic’.

‘Sorry Poh, I adore you but it’s just a vanilla slice,’ said one viewer.

‘Am I the only one who thinks Poh’s dish looked dry?’ said another from the comfort of their living room.

Before a third went straight for the jugular: ‘I hate to say it but Poh’s vanilla slice looks a bit… basic.’
