LAURENCE Fox has revealed that he considered taking his own life after his split from Billie Piper in 2016.
The actor – who shares two children with his ex Billie – opened up on the devastating impact their divorce had on his mental health.
Laurence, 41, admitted how he couldn’t see “the point in being alive” after not being able to see his children everyday.
He told The Sunday Times Magazine: “I did. Not within the marriage. Afterwards.
“Not from the grief of the breakdown of the marriage, even though I did grieve the breakdown of the marriage, because you see it as a failure.
“But suddenly not being a family with your children every day was the bit that sent me over the edge, and I certainly, definitely had thoughts of what’s the point in being alive?”
Speaking on his lengthy court battle over children Winston, 11, and Eugene, eight, he said: “Certain aspects of the family court system are difficult as a man.
“[It assumes women] are better nurturers and raisers of children when all of the facts are that children need both parents.
“It’s ‘Believe the woman’. It’s like ‘No! Don’t believe the woman. Provide the evidence. Provide this evidence. Try me as a f***ing criminal, man, and let’s see how far you get.’ This is a poison in our culture and it’s wrong.”
Laurence married the pop star turned actress in December 2007 and later divorced on May 12, 2016.
It took two years since their divorce, but the former couple now share custody of their children.
He has since found love again with photographer Sara McKinnon, 39, who he met just after his controversial Question Time appearance in January.
The Inspector Lewis star is said to be in lockdown down with her at his London home, and friends have revealed he is “very happy.”
A pal told MailOnline: “He has had a good feeling about her, it is delightful to see him happy after everything he has been through.”
