Fountain of Wayne Adam Schlesinger’s partner shares tribute after he died of COVID

The partner of Adam Schlesinger, who died as a result of coronavirus complications at the age of 52 earlier this month, has paid tribute to the celebrated musician and composer.

On Sunday, Schlesinger’s girlfriend Alexis Morley posted the last photo taken of the pair together, alongside an emotional tribute to her husband, who was known as a member of Fountains of Wayne and an Emmy-winning songwriter for TV’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

“This is the last photo of Adam and me, March 15” Morley wrote. “We went on a gorgeous 4 mile walk that day with our friend.”

In the emotional caption, Morley reveals that in the days leading up to his death she had tried to “nurse him back to health” before he was finally omitted to a hospital, after suffering a high fever.

When Morley arrived at the hospital, she notes how she wasn’t allowed in with her husband and had to drive home alone “terrified” through a snowstorm.

“The next morning he was intubated. I never got to hear his voice again,” she added.

Morley revealed she was allowed special access to see her husband one last time when she was told that he wasn’t going to make it.

She described the room as a “low-lit, grim, heavy place; the medical workers and I obscured by layers of PPE.”

“But Adam looked sweet, peaceful, beautiful. I’m so thankful that I got to spend one final hour with him.”
