Angelina Jolie thinks it’s ‘impossible’ to be a ‘perfect’ parent

Angelina Jolie thinks children don’t want their parents to be ‘perfect’ but instead be ‘honest’ when they make mistakes.

The actress, who has six children with ex-husband Brad Pitt, opened up about parenthood in a new column for TIME magazine.

She wrote: ‘Now, in the midst of this pandemic, I think of all the mothers and fathers with children at home. All hoping they can do everything right, answer all needs, and stay calm and positive. One thing that has helped me is to know that’s impossible.’

The Maleficent star added: ‘It is a lovely thing to discover that your children don’t want you perfect. They just want you honest. And doing your best. In fact, the more room they have to be great where you are weak, the stronger they may become.

‘They love you. They want to help you. So in the end, it’s the team you build. And in a way, they are raising you up too. You grow together.’

The 44-year-old is mum to Maddox, 18, Pax, 16, Zahara, 15, Shiloh, 13 and 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

Angelina is homeschooling her children during the coronavirus pandemic, and confessed she is finding it more of a challenge than they are.

‘I know parents across the country are challenged with homeschool and maybe that’s more a challenge for the parents than the children.’

She also used her column to raise awareness about domestic violence in the home as people are forced to stay indoors during the pandemic.

Angelina and Brad are still finalising their divorce and have settled on a custody agreement and come to an agreement on the ‘education and transitional support’ for their kids.
