SAM Smith has revealed that they want to date an older man after “freaking out” about being single during lockdown.
The 27-year-old singer has turned to exclusive celebrity dating app Raya in recent weeks, and has even orchestrated “quarantine relationships” despite being unable to meet in real life.
Sam explained: “For the first two weeks I was like: Oh my God I’m single’. I went on this dating thing and it was the worst!
“Then you get attached to guys, and then you’re forming quarantine relationships over the phone, it’s a dangerous path.”
They added to SiriusXM: “I think I want to be with someone older now. I need someone who has passions and has their own drive.
“It’s nice to be able to date on your phone. I haven’t done it in years – I just want the romance.”
Sam’s last public relationship was with 13 Reasons Why star Brandon Flynn, 26, who they split from in 2018.
The star previously confessed that the break-up had a huge impact on them, and that they were at their lowest when touring.
They said at the time: “I feel like I sound so depressing all the time when I talk about it, but I get depressed on tour.
“I’ve just gone through a break-up so I’m not in the mood for romance.
“When I see couples I just want to poke their eyes. It’s hard to be happy for other people when you feel so s**t.”
Earlier this month, Sam received backlash after posting a dramatic crying Instagram post alongside the caption: “Stages of a quarantine meltdown”.
Piers Morgan was among their biggest critics, with the TV presenter lashing out at the hitmaker in a scathing rant.
Sam later insisted that the photos were a “joke” that did not get “picked up very well”.
