ROCKETMAN star Taron Egerton’s posh apartment block went up in flames after a resident flicked a cigarette butt onto a balcony.
A blaze was started at the star’s plush west London complex on Friday morning when a neighbour’s cigarette landed onto a balcony filled with paper and clothes.
Firemen raced to the scene in minutes and put out the blaze – leaving enraged building bosses to warn tenants not to pack their wooden balconies with flammable items or chuck cigarettes from their windows.
Taron’s flat is close to the BBC Television Centre in White City, West London – being used to film ITV shows Loose Women, Good Morning Britain and Lorraine.
A pal of Taron’s said the Welsh-born actor, 30, was left “raging” by the fire as it was caused by “sheer stupidity”.
The source added: “Taron takes great pride in his pad and was fuming when the blaze happened as a stupid action could have caused a real tragedy.
“Residents have been repeatedly warned by building management not to chuck cigarettes and to keep balconies clear.
“Had the fire brigade not dealt with it so quickly, who knows what could have happened.”
The fire broke out on a ground floor flat in the complex which is overlooked by the Grenfell Tower.
Taron’s pad includes access to a 24-hour personal trainers, a gym accessible by private lifts, a swimming pool and residents’-only cinema.
It is next door to a members’ club and features the “tranquil oasis” of a residents’ landscaped garden.
The star – who as an estimated £8million fortune – snapped up the new build after winning the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for playing Elton John in the singer’s biopic Rocketman.
