Demi completed a 90-day rehab program back in October 2018 after a drug overdose earlier in the year.

‘I had to learn that not setting boundaries put me in the position I was in,’ she added while speaking to the Good Place star.

Saying: ‘Talking about every detail of every part of my life, whether it be a relationship or whether it be my recovery, nothing was sacred to me anymore. ‘

Demi recently revealed that she no longer speaks to her ex Wilmer Valderrama, ex Joe Jonas or old friend Selena Gomez.

‘I’m not really friends with any of my exes today because I had to realize that that wasn’t healthy either,’ she said. ‘Trying to maintain close friendships with some of my exes just isn’t realistic.’

Demi opened up about her friendships as she covered the May issue of Harper’s Bazaar as she talks about her career comeback after almost two years.

The singer began her career as a Disney Channel star and admits she’s not in touch with all her former Disney pals, including once close friend Selena Gomez.

Demi admits the duo lost touch in recent years and she didn’t know how to feel when Selena applauded her return to the spotlight at the Grammys in January.

‘When you grow up with somebody, you’re always going to have love for them. But I’m not friends with her, so [the Instagram post] felt… ,’ she said before stopping herself.

‘I will always have love for her, and I wish everybody nothing but the best.’ she added.

Selena gave her childhood pal a shout-out after her emotional performance of new song Anyone at the 2020 Grammys. It was Demi’s first performance following her drug overdose in July 2018.

In the same interview she also broke her silence three months after her ex-boyfriend Wilmer announced that he is set to wed model Amanda Pacheco.

The star shared her well-wishes following the news and revealed that she was ‘happy’ for the couple.

During a chat with the magazine, she said: ‘I’m really happy for him and I wish him nothing but the best, but we’re not in each other’s lives, haven’t spoken in a long time.’

She continued by admitting that their break-up was for the best because she was able to find her feet in the world without the support of another person.

Demi said: ‘But I think I needed that because I needed to learn to be okay on my own. When you get into a relationship with somebody at that young of an age and then you spend six years with somebody, you don’t really get to learn about yourself.’
