Will & Grace stars Debra Messing and Megan Mullally’s rumored feud gets addressed by show creators: ‘We try to keep you guys out of what happened’

Will & Grace creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick have added fuel to the rumours the co-stars Debra Messing, 51, and Megan Mullally, 61, have harbored a secret feud with each other.

Kohan and Mutchnick were asked about the alleged clash in a recent Q&A interview with Entertainment Weekly and, well, they didn’t exactly deny it. Instead, they hinted that they worked around any such tension.

“We always work under this kind of motto that everything’s about the work,” Mutchnick, 54, told EW, when asked directly about rumours of a feud, after Mullally stepped away from the show for a couple of episodes.

“It’s just about the work. And so if we stay true to that, then we just keep you guys out of whatever happened on the set this year because it would have done nothing but get in the way of the stories that we wanted to tell.”

He expanded, “It was not an easy year, but the permanent legacy of the show is much more important to us than any temporary squabble that would take place on the stage.”

Mutchnick also referred to Messing’s contract as a “pain in the ass” as it stipulated she had to be done with the show by Christmas – however, this meant that they avoided any delays due to the entertainment industry shutting down due to the coronavirus pandemic.
