When does Normal People start?

The series is set to start Monday, April 27, 2020 at 9pm on BBC One.

The whole series will be available to binge-watch in one go on BBC iPlayer after the first episode has aired.

The adaptation consists of 12 episodes which are 30 minutes long.

The much anticipated series is perfect for lockdown weekend viewing.

Who is in the cast?

The new series features a set of young promising actors and actresses who have already built a stellar resume.

Daisy Edgar-Jones will star as the female lead, Marianne in the upcoming drama.

The 21-year-old London born actress has had roles in television shows such as Cold Feet and 2019’s War of Words.

Starring opposite her as the male lead, Connell, will be Paul Mescal, who will be appearing in his small screen debut.

The actor is primarily known for his stage work having played the flashy Jay Gatsby in The Great Gatsby and The Lieutenant of Inishmore.

The Irish actor, 24, has also appeared in Happyish, a short film directed by Juanita Wilson.

Other stars joining the pair will be Sarah Greene, Aislin McGuckin, Sean Doyle and Kwaku Fortune.

What is Normal People about?

Normal People, which is set in a small town in Ireland, is a romantic drama series which tells the story of teenagers who fall in love.

The couple soon realise their love will not be an easy one as they have to battle obstacles along the way.

At school, Connell is a popular star athlete while Marianne is an awkward loner who can also be quite intimidating.

The romance between the unlikely pair is sure to thrill audiences.
