Chris Evans confused as he’s interrupted by bizarre blunder on-air | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Chris and Vassos Alexander were in the middle of discussing whether Virgin Radio would be able to set up an auction, with all proceeds going to the NHS during this coronavirus public health emergency.

The national health service is under intense pressure while trying to battle COVID-19, with staff on the frontline risking their lives everyday.

There have been numerous charity initiatives set up in order to raise funds and individuals have been taking it upon themselves to make a difference, such as the ever popular Captain Tom.

The war veteran has raised over a whopping £30,000,000 by walking laps of his garden, steam rolling ahead of his initial £1,000 target, and has since been given a Pride Of Britain award for his efforts.

“I don’t know,” the host seemed sceptical before proceeding to joke about pronouncing the word WIFI wrong in order to show his technical incompetence.

Earlier this month, Chris shared his message of support for the NHS while urging others to do the same.

Joining The Sun’s Who Cares Wins appeal, he acknowledged that our current predicament is not what the hundreds of thousands of frontline workers signed up for.

“To save lives, comfort and care for the sick and dying, yes. But at the risk of losing their own? No. That was never part of the deal,” he wrote.

While the world grinds to a halt as the virus continues to spread, he encouraged others to show health care workers how much they are appreciated.

“We must show them we love them,” he exclaimed.

“However you see fit — a handmade poster in your front window, a flag flying from the roof of your van, a salute when an ambulance or paramedic passes you in the street.

“It is everyone’s duty to love the NHS.”

The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky airs weekdays at 6:30am on Virgin Radio.
