There are 24 returning stars on MasterChef Australia’s Back To Win reunion lineup.

But rumour has it the cast, and producers, were surprised to discover one of the contestants had a child none of them knew about.  

An inside source told New Idea on Monday: ‘No one is really sure why it was never mentioned or why it was relevant, but it came as a shock to everyone.’

The mystery informer claimed producers dug into the pasts of each contestant to ensure the cast all had squeaky-clean reputations. 

It’s believed the chef may live quite a private life away from the kitchen and pressures of being on TV. 

Daily Mail Australia ha contacted Channel 10 for comment.

It comes after news that MasterChef Australia producers reportedly held crisis talks after fan favourite Ben Ungermann was arrested during filming.

Executives called the show’s editors into an ’emergency meeting’ last month and instructed them to ‘cut him out the best you can’, according to New Idea.

The incident apparently came as a shock to MasterChef brass, with a source saying: ‘No one could have imagined something like that would ever happen.’

MasterChef: Back to Win welcomed back 24 past contestants who are all competing for the ultimate redemption and a cash prize of $250,000. 

From 14 cookbooks, 13 TV shows, 26 businesses and one arrest: the famous alumni for the most part have been pretty busy since their first TV stint.
