Carey Mulligan leads stars joining forces with Comic Relief to aid coronavirus relief efforts

The coronavirus crisis has seen a whole host of celebrities coming together to help support relief efforts helping those affected by the pandemic.

And joining forces with Comic Relief, Carey Mulligan, Dame Joan Collins and Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain are among the stars fronting a new campaign to help raise donations for charities tackling COVID-19.

Comic Relief has teamed up with author, artist and illustrator Charlie Mackesy to create a new t-shirt, poignantly sporting the slogan ‘love wins’, with all money raised going towards helping the most vulnerable.

Supporting the campaign actress Carey Mulligan, 34, famed for her roles in Pride and Prejudice, The Great Gatsby, where she starred alongside Leonardo Di Caprio, and 2018’s Collateral, was seen proudly wearing the newly-designed tee alongside her husband, Marcus Mumford.

Carey was seen cosying up to her beau while wearing the t-shirt, that features a black outline of a heart and the phrase ‘love wins x’ printed inside.

Marcus, who is the lead singer of band Mumford & Sons, was seen with his arm around his wife of eight years and pointing down towards the charity tee.

They were joined by the likes of Miranda Hart, former EastEnders star Himesh Patel, Reggie Yates, Louise Minchin, Judge Rob Rinder and Claudia Winkleman.

Speaking about Comic Relief’s COVID-19 campaign, Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia said: ‘[The t-shirt is] gorgeous, it’s entirely ethically produced, and every single pound will help support some of the most vulnerable people affected by this crisis.’

‘The work that Comic Relief does changes lives and communities for the better, simple as that, that’s why I’m wearing the Love Wins t-shirt.’

Money raised by the t-shirt sales will go towards helping the most vulnerable affected by the coronavirus pandemic, including families in crisis and reliant on food banks, women and children at risk of domestic abuse, the elderly and isolated and those living in poverty without stable housing in the UK.
