In an extract from Everybody Deserves a Disaster shared with Daily Mail Australia, the 56-year-old exposes the secrets producers don’t want you to know.

In chapter Keeping It Real, season five star Melissa revealed how one unauthorised cast party away from the cameras had extreme repercussions, with producers introducing a curfew for the stars and giving them all ‘minders’ afterwards.

Melissa writes: ‘We all stuck together as much we could and in the early weeks would hang out with each other in our rooms. We had WhatsApp group chats which is how we would communicate. A huge party would soon put all that to a stop.

‘A heap of the cast had a party which got a little out of hand. Needless to say, the executive producer was soon laying down the law and a curfew was put in place. We all had to be in our rooms by 8pm. No fraternising with the other cast members.

‘I was 53 for goodness sake. I couldn’t remember the last time I had a curfew, but we still did the right thing. If we went out, we made sure we were back by 8pm and signed in with our minder, Sheridan, who was staying down one floor.’

In the book, Melissa details her entire time on Married At First Sight, from the initial application process to her former relationship with match John Robertson.

Melissa tells Daily Mail Australia that she sent her ex-‘husband’ an early copy of the book, and he was overwhelmed by how highly she spoke of him.

‘John messaged me after reading the book and loved it . He said thank you for saying such nice things about him. I replied, “Of course . We were awesome”,’ said Melissa.

Whereas most other Married At First Sight stars turn against producers, Channel Nine and their co-stars after the show wraps, Melissa has not done this.

She said on Sunday: ‘My book is not bitter at all. I loved doing the show. I loved meeting John and we had such a wonderful time together and are still close friends.

‘I feel very lucky I got to do it and [producers] were nothing but nice to me. I will never ever regret it and I now have some wonderful friendships out of it.’
