Keith Urban’s performance on Lady Gaga’s Global Citizen One World: Together at Home concert proved to be memorable to millions of viewers on Sunday. 

The 52-year-old pre-recorded multiple takes of his cover of Higher Love, and used an editing trick to clone himself, with three Keiths rocking out together.

Bizarrely, his wife Nicole Kidman appeared at the end of the song, hugging one of the Keiths – as another Keith spoke to viewers of the COVID-19 relief concert.

The creative approach both impressed, and confused, viewers around the world, as Keith’s performance aired at 11:15am (AEST) in Australia. 

‘Nicole Kidman just walked in and hugged the third Keith Urban… go to the next performer please! I’m freaked out,’ tweeted one viewer.

‘Wait a sec!! Keith Urban is from a set of triplets?’ joked a second fan. 

‘I was only half paying attention and just now realized that there are three Keith Urban’s on my TV,’ laughed a third person.

Some viewers believed that Keith pre-recording multiple takes of his performance went against the ‘live’ element of the worldwide benefit concert.  

One person vented on Twitter: ‘Literally did not need a 2nd and 3rd Keith. Not to mention spoiling the pretence of “live streaming”.’

Another wrote: ‘Someone just texted me and asked if these #TogetherAtHome performances were live… Keith Urban just killed that illusion.’

For his performance Keith belted out a cover of song Higher Love.

The track was made by famous by English singer Steve Winwood in 1986. Last year, Norwegian DJ Kygo remixed Whitney Houston’s 1990 cover of the song. 

Keith performed on the star-studded line-up of Lady Gaga’s Global Citizen One World: Together at Home concert, raising funds for COVID-19 prevention. 

He thanked all of the healthcare workers saving lives after the song ended.  

Keith and songstress Delta Goodrem represented Australia on the 10-hour event.
